West Ham United F.C are looking for a Social Media Manager lead the execution and help define the strategic direction of West Ham United’s official social media channels and content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive follower growth and fan engagement across primary social media channels, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and Threads.
- Contribute to a cross-platform content strategy that aligns to the club’s strategic goals and brand positioning.
- Oversee output on all owned social media platforms.
- Line manage a Senior Social Media Producer and take responsibility for the short, medium and long-term planning and distribution across channels.
- Hold weekly meetings with your team to analyse data and ideate content across West Ham’s social media channels.
- Manage the third party relationships and be the primary point of contact with the external agencies; responsible for running of a number of international channels across Europe, USA and Asia.
- Track analytics and benchmark performance against competitors.
- Lead the social media team on matchdays, developing and delivering tactics and strategies to ensure optimal results.
- Collaborate with the club’s communications team by ensuring social media output is closely aligned with agreed external messaging.
- Support commercial partnerships and marketing department objectives, by driving the creation of audience-first campaigns and content formats that deliver the shared goals of the social team, internal stakeholders and partners.
- Contribute to the marketing department’s revenue targets through promotion of ticketing and retail products and campaigns.
- Help drive traffic to O&O channels.
- Act as a subject expert and help provide best practice guidance on social media those within your team and the wider business.
Requirements
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have skills and experience in the following areas;
Essential skills, abilities and experience;
- Experience of running successful large social media platforms, specifically in sports.
- Management experience.
- High editorial standards and judgement.
- Practical experience of making successful and engaging content.
- Experienced in working with high profile figures/athletes.
- Good competence in Adobe Suite, mainly Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
- Has worked flexible hours particularly around fixture lists and audience demands.
- Played a key role in adapting Channel strategies based on data and industry changes.
- A positive, solution-based operator who builds and maintains relationships within the business.
- A proven track record of delivering growth and engagement across social media channels
- Strong written skills
- Good communication skills – ability to explain ideas to people who will not be specialists in those areas.
- Brand and commercial awareness.
- Awareness of audience segmentation.
- Ability to thrive in high pressure publishing situations.
- Awareness of social/youth trends in and outside sport.
