Community Engagement Manager – English Heritage

People

  1. Recruit, train, and manage volunteers or work with site-based Volunteer Managers to assist with community engagement activities and events.
  2. Recruit and manage any artists or freelancers employed to develop or deliver the community engagement programme.
  3. Work closely with others, to oversee the development and implementation of a wide and flexible programme of training opportunities for volunteers.
  4. As the team develops, you may be required to take on the management of an Apprentice.

Stakeholder relations

  1. Maintain positive relations with key internal and external stakeholders acting as ambassador for the English Heritage brand to promote our work with local networks and represent the Department or Territory on project teams as required. Support the delivery of Activity or Engagement Plans within project programmes in the Territory.
  2. Work with the National Engagement Lead to develop partnership activity and maximise the impact of community engagement.
  3. Establish and maintain partnerships with local organisations, institutions, and businesses to enhance the sites in your area and facilitate joint initiatives that benefit the community.
  4. Monitor, document and evaluate engagement activity at your sites in line with English Heritage KPIs.

Community Engagement Manager Job Description – Visitor Experience

  1. Organise and oversee a variety of events and activities, including workshops, lectures, and community events, designed to attract diverse audiences and enhance community involvement at our hidden gem and free-to-enter sites.

  • Creating and delivering outreach plans.
  • Managing volunteers and volunteer-led activities.
  • Working with a range of people from the local community.
  • Community engagement and delivering activities, events and outreach to new audiences, preferably gained within the heritage sector.
  • Working with external partners and community stakeholders.
  • Devising and delivering activities with volunteers, artists and freelancers.
  • Using a variety of methods to evaluate the success of community related activities.
  • Using standard office software packages e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Budget management and financial reporting.
