Senior Safeguarding Manager – Arsenal

Roles

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to key stakeholders – you will ensure best practice is followed and national standards for safeguarding and protecting children and young people in sport are achieved through the Premier League Safeguarding Audits and FA Women’s Super League Compliance Report
  • Lead on all safeguarding investigations – you’ll diligently handle allegations of poor practice, serious incidents or allegations of abuse and work directly with external bodies and authorities to reach positive resolutions
  • Deliver safeguarding workshops – you will passionately deliver a range of existing educational workshops to relevant Academy colleagues
  • Attend AWFC Academy tours – you’ll carefully undertake risk assessments for all trips and tours, and act as the Safeguarding Lead when necessary
  • Chair regular Arsenal in the Community and Arsenal Women Safeguarding meetings – you will work with Designated Safeguarding Officers to ensure safeguarding issues, best practice and player welfare is appropriately considered and shared
  • Support the delivery of the strategic objectives of Arsenal Women – you’ll work with our Team Operations Manager and Player Care Manager to ensure safeguarding best practice is followed through the different operations of the Women’s First Team, including input into the design and delivery of projects, for loans and for Academy players moving up to the First Team
  • Support the delivery of strategic aims of the Commercial department  you will ensure that the commercial departments are supported by adequate safeguarding resource including sufficient numbers of trained Designated Safeguarding Officers
  • Lead on all safeguarding investigations – you’ll diligently handle allegations of poor practice, serious incidents or allegations of abuse and work directly with external bodies and authorities to reach positive resolutions
  • Handle complex risk assessments – you will perform DBS risk assessment interviews and you’ll ensure regular formal and informal reporting of all issues related to safeguarding, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and our confidentiality protocol

Requirements

  • Qualified expert  you come equipped with a professional qualification in Safeguarding
  • Best-in-class emotional intelligence – you’re naturally empathetic with a high level of self-awareness and an aptitude for conflict resolution and dealing with sensitive issues
  • Creative problem-solver – you take an inventive approach to implementing safeguarding solutions, ideally within a football or sporting context
  • Excellent relationship builder – you’re well versed in working directly with children, young people, adults at risk and their parents/carers
  • Trusted investigator – you proactively manage the investigation of safeguarding cases and are proficient with referrals and escalation processes with external agencies
  • Exceptional communicator – you’re able to communicate clearly across a highly diverse range of audiences and contexts, adapting your style, tone and approach as needed
  • Solid stakeholder management skills – you possess a good ability to work with senior internal stakeholders as well as senior figures from various statutory agencies across Islington, Camden, Westminster, and Hertfordshire, including children’s services and the Police
  • Background in delivering training – you have a history of designing and delivering training sessions and workshops to children, young people, adults at risk and their parents/carers, and colleagues
  • Analytical mindset – you’re highly capable of analysing safeguarding data and preparing reports with detailed commentary
  • Proven track record of implementing policies – you come with demonstrable experience of administering policies and protocols and guidance and writing reports and compiling case file information
