Food & Beverage Assistant – English Heritage

Roles

You will contribute to an inspirational visit through exceptional customer service and an outstanding eating experience. You will help make English Heritage sites the best possibleplaces to visit and work, while adhering to standards, policies and procedures. You won’t be expected to know our processes straight away, training will be provided.

  1. Customer Service:

Provide exemplary customer service to all who visit the site and excellent standards of site, staff and personal presentation at all times.

  1. Driving results:

Understand the objectives of the charity and strive to exceed targets through product display, upselling and customer interaction.

  1. Health & Safety

Adhere to all health and safety, food safety, allergen and HACCP policies, risk assessments, compliance and procedures. Keep wastage to a minimum and adhere to EH Policy through the recycling and correct disposal of waste.

  1. Cleaning:

Ensure high standards of cleanliness throughout the Food and Beverage outlet, cleaning the kitchen and café areas, including tables, floors, kitchen surfaces, serving areas, machines and other areas as deemed necessary. You will use the dish washer to ensure a high standard of cleanliness for all crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils.

  1. Financial compliance:

Adhere to all financial procedures to include till operation, cashing up, and issuing receipts – the handling of monies remain secure at all times.

  1. Food production:

Ensure food is prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation following EH Food and Beverage guidelines and maintain consistency of food service to the visitor either front or back of house.   1. Events:

Assist line-manager in delivering Food and Beverage at events.

  1. Training:

Support line-manager with the training for new Food and Beverage assistants and attend staff training sessions and to maintain an up to date knowledge of kitchen operations.

  1. Team work:

Work cooperatively and collaboratively with your team to effectively meet the needs of the site.

Essential Desirable

  1. Understanding of what makes excellent customer service, and an enthusiasm to deliver great visitor experiences
  2. A people person, who is able to engage in a positive way with people from all backgrounds and enjoys working as part of a team
  3. Willingness to follow and policy, procedure and instructions
  4. General awareness of health and safety and security issues
  5. Capable of understanding financial targets and carrying out basic money[1]handling and cashiering duties.
  6. Able to prioritise own work and meet deadlines
  7. Comfortable using basic technology (such as EPOS systems and tills, touch[1]screens and mobile devices)
  8. Comfortable suggesting solutions to problems where needed
  9. Experience of providing excellent customer service

  1. Experience of supporting hospitality events and functions
  2. Experience of dealing with a fast paced environment
  3. Experience of working to commercial targets
  4. Experience of improving processes in order to improve the customer experience
  5. Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate
  6. Experience in baking and producing quality cakes
  7. Risk Assessment training
  8. Awareness of child protection issues
  9. First Aid certificate 1
  10. Awareness of Licensing Laws
