Accounting Technician – US Embassy

The incumbent is responsible for a comprehensive range of financial management services, including budget preparation and execution, maintaining official accounting records, preparing management reports, auditing compliance with internal controls, and reconciling records. This role requires independently monitoring the disbursement of approximately $42 million in funds in accordance with regulations over a five-year rolling period.

The incumbent acts as the principal budget analyst for multiple federal agencies of the U.S. government.  Additional responsibilities include managing the full accounting and financial reporting for Gift Funds and sponsored events, assisting with location budgets for Consulates General Belfast and Edinburgh, ensuring accurate reimbursement postings, maintaining accounts, and providing support for other requests. The role also includes serving as a backup for Financial Management Analyst positions.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:
All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a security clearance.

All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam.
Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

OPTION 1

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years of experience using an automated financial management system, developing and executing budgets and maintaining accounting records is required.

Education: Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or Mathematics is required
