Accountant – US Embassy

The incumbent is responsible for Mission UK Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations Budget, Financial Planning and Accounting for a total of approximately $33M. The incumbent provides estimates on projected recurring costs, based on prior financial, historical and local information; incorporates increases/decreases as anticipated by post management; provides advice and recommendation to Management on any changes; highlights any deviations compared to previous budget submission.

The incumbent needs to keep abreast of country’s financial and economic changes which could affect Post’s budgets and maintains documentary evidence of these issues; briefs the supervisors on the impact of these changes, provides advice and proposes solutions. Keeps control of related accounting records.

To perform this role effectively, the incumbent must demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong collaboration skills, and a comprehensive understanding of financial management principles.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:
All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a security clearance.

All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam.
Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

 

For the experience and education requirements applicants must meet either Option 1 or Option 2.

 

OPTION 1

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years of experience using an automated financial management system, developing and executing budgets and maintaining accounting records is required.

Education: Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or Mathematics is required
